Our Timeline
Our story began in 2014, with the launch of our Primary Environment for children aged 3 to 6 years. In the beginning, we were unsure how the Montessori method would be received by the local community. To our joy and encouragement, the parents who joined us were enthusiastic, supportive, and deeply aligned with our vision. Their faith in our work inspired us to keep moving forward.

In 2017, we expanded to include the Elementary Environment for children aged 6 to 12 years.
We launched our Toddler Environment (1.5 to 3 years) in 2018—completing the foundation for early childhood education.

A major milestone was reached in 2024, when we opened our Erdkinder Environment for adolescents aged 12 to 18 years. This vision came to life after our founder and director, Deepti Nirmal, completed her AMI 12–18 Diploma in Montessori Teacher Training from the Kodaikanal AMI Centre, under the guidance of internationally renowned trainers Jenny Höglund and Lesley-Anne Patrick. With this, Kalpagam now offers a complete Montessori journey—from toddlerhood to young adulthood.

Since 2014, we have also been actively engaged in Montessori teacher training, offering Diploma and Certificate courses in collaboration with the National Council for Vocational and Research Training (NCVRT), New Delhi. Our graduates have secured placements in various CBSE schools, balwadis, and Montessori institutions across India and internationally. In addition, we conduct regular online orientation sessions and workshops for parents and educators throughout the year.

Since 2025, we have expanded our training offerings to include two additional diploma courses: the Toddler Montessori Teacher Training, designed for working with children aged 1.5 to 3 years, and the Lower Elementary Montessori Teacher Training, focused on guiding children in Grades 1 to 3.

In 2020, responding to the needs of homeschooling families during the pandemic, we launched “Montessori in a Box”—a thoughtfully designed collection of Montessori materials aimed at making high-quality resources more accessible and affordable. Around the same time, we also introduced “Childniture”, a line of Montessori-inspired home furniture crafted to support children's independence and learning in home environments.

At every stage, our journey has been driven by a deep belief in the Montessori method and its power to nurture capable, thoughtful, and compassionate individuals. From our humble beginnings to where we stand today, Kalpagam continues to grow as a vibrant centre for experiential learning, deeply rooted in purpose, passion, and possibility.
